Just like humans, dogs need grooming too. We all know the popular phrase, “man’s best friend” refers to our furry friends, also known as dogs! Dogs can be a wonderful companion and take care of us in ways that we often don’t realize. Since we receive unconditional love and loyalty from our dogs, it is only right that we show that same love and loyalty in return and take care of them the best way we can. How can you show your dog that you love him/her? Groom your dog,  so that they are happy and comfortable all year long. 

You can groom your dog yourself or treat your dog to a spa like trip and take him to a groomer. Dogs, like people are unique. Therefore, you must keep in mind that not all dogs are going to respond or feel the same way about being groomed. If you attempt to groom your dog yourself, and your dog is being aggressive toward the brush, or even if your dog is showing signs of timidness and being scared. You should then opt to take your dog to be groomed by a professional. If you are forcibly grooming your dog, you are putting him/her through unnecessary trauma, which will only make the grooming process more difficult in the future. 

Getting Ready for Grooming

Once you’ve determined that you and your dog are up for the task, you can groom your dog in nine simple steps. First, make sure you have all your grooming essentials, such as brushes, shampoo, towels, and more. You should start by tackling your dogs matts or tangles pre-bath. They are harder to get out once they get wet. Then you should follow up with any necessary trimming/clipping or brushing/combing. Next, it’s bath time. Go ahead and shampoo and condition your dog. Keep in mind that some dogs may not like the water and you might have to introduce them to the water slowly. Please note that is is a good idea to put cotton swabs in your dog’s ear during the bath to help absorb the water.

When your doggy bath is all done, give them a good towel dry. Follow that up with cleaning their ears, trimming their toenails, and brushing their teeth. Then, you’re done! This may be a process and may take some time to perfect. But your dog will love you even more for caring to take the time to keep them hygiene healthy. Your dog takes care of you so remember to take care good care of your dog and give them a good grooming session.
